Meet our Pastor and Staff
Pastor - Dan Wilcox
Thank you! As we continue the process of getting settled in the parsonage and beginning to explore Anchorage, the Wilcox family wants to say THANK YOU for all the church has already done to prepare for our arrival. Transitions can be difficult as we have to change homes, schools, and other patterns of life. Thank you for the welcome and work that many have done. We are excited to meet you all and learn more about the ministries and passions of this congregation. For years, we have come to Anchor Park for trainings, conference meetings, and even to stay when in town for meetings. As we become part of this community of faith, we come with an appreciation already for your commitment to hospitality and love for the community. As a matter of introduction, we do have five children. Esther is a student at UAS in Juneau, though she is with us for the summer right now. Jaden and Lydia will be Juniors in the fall, and the youngest two, Elijah and Graham are 4 and 1, and will be starting child care programs here in the city. Kris-Ann is continuing as a paramedic with the Mat-Su Borough Emergency Medicine, and will be commuting. While she looks forward to participating in various ministries, it does become a challenge as her schedule changes from week to week and will frequently be coming off of a shift or going onto on Sunday mornings. Pastor Dan will be continuing as the Conference Disaster Response Coordinator, working with other faith and non-profit groups responding to disasters around the state. This is part of his ministry with the conference, and becomes an extension of the ministry of his role with Anchor Park UMC. This congregation has already exhibited a commitment to supporting work teams, and several individuals have worked in roles connected to disaster response. Pastor Dan anticipates that this will naturally be folded into the larger ministry of the church. As we meet and learn names, explore the trails and treasures of the city, we are thankful for a congregation who has already exhibited such welcome and willingness to do ministry with your neighbors. We look forward to seeing how God leads us together to our next chapter in the journey. Blessings! Pastor Dan (And Kris-Ann, Esther, Jaden, Lydia, Elijah, and Graham) danielpwilcox@gmail.com |
