Anchor Park United Women in Faith "The organized unit of United Women in Faith shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church." There are over a million members of United Women of Faith worldwide.
Membership in United Women in Faith is open to all women who seek to be a part of a supportive community committed to the UWiF PURPOSE. The Anchor Park unit meets the 3rd Sunday of the month during September- May. We also gather throughout the summer for special events, such as our annual retreat to Girdwood and the state-wide Annual Gathering in Fairbanks October 2024. |
READING PROGRAM
The United Women in Faith prints a flyer each year listing books under the categories of Spiritual Growth, Education for Mission, Nurturing for Community, and Social Action. There are four Reading Plans: Plan 1 requires reading 4 books during the year, one from each category, as well as reading Response Magazine. Plan 2 requires 10 books; Plan 3, 15 books, Plan 4, 20 books. Books must be chosen from the UWiFReading Lists. You can download current reading lists on the United Women in Faith Reading Program.
MISSIONS and SERVICE
Through our pledges and fund-raising projects, our UMW unit supports the missions of the United Methodist Church that focus on social concerns involving women and children at local, national, and international levels. Through the proceeds of our annual Holiday Lunch and Craft Auction, donations are given to different non-profit organizations. At every Christmas meeting, items needed by non-profit organizations are collected.
